Claire is International Development Manager in charge of International Relations at SAMOA, a public company in charge of the development of the Quartier de la Création, Nantes, France. 

The Creative Quarter is the result of 20 years of sustainable and economic development in the city of Nantes, in South-West Brittany. It was originally founded by its Mayor Jean-Marc Ayrault who is now France's Prime Minister.

KARI HALINEN

Kari has been CEO of Art and Design City Helsinki Ltd (ADC) since 2001. The aim of ADC is to develop an innercity area called "Arabianranta" in the Eastern part of Helsinki as a leading hotspot of design in Europe.  

Mr. Halinen is also managing a similar project called “Kalasatama” (Fish Habour), which is biggest development in Finland at the moment (1,3 million sq meters).

RAY YEATES

SPEAKER

Ray was appointed Dublin City Arts Officer for Dublin City Council in August 2011 and CEO of Temple Bar Cultural Trust in November 2012. He is in charge of drawing  up a new Cultural Strategy for the City Council that includes a strategic role for Temple Bar. 

Ray Yeates is also a stage actor and a theatre director. He toured America, Ireland, the UK, Belgium and Poland, independently & with Axis Ballymun.

​EILIS NI DHUIBHNE

​CREATIVE WRITER

Éilís was born in Dublin. She has written many novels, collections of short stories,  plays  and   non - fiction work.  Éilís is Writer Fellow in UCD (University College Dublin) where she teaches the MA in Creative Writing. She is a member of Aosdána and is on the Board of the James Joyce Centre.

​PHILIPPE FOREST

Philippe was Born in 1962 in Paris, and taught in several universities in the United Kingdom (Edinburgh, St Andrews, Cambridge, and London), is now a lecturer at the University of Nantes. A specialist of the avant-garde, he is the author of several essays devoted to Art, Literature and Japanese aesthetics. He is the author of five award winning novels in France and elsewhere. His work has been translated in around ten countries.

​JEAN-MICHEL PICARD

MODERATOR

Jean-Michel was born in Marseille in 1952. He studied at Paris IV-Sorbonne and at UCD, Dublin. As a specialist in medieval languages and literature, he has published several books and numerous articles on Irish hagiographical literature, on Hiberno-Latin language, and on the history of contacts between Ireland and the continent during the middle ages. Jean-Michel Picard is a professor in the UCD School of Languages and Literatures and a member of the Royal Irish Academy.

TARA BYRNE

ARTS CONSULTANT & ACADEMIC

Tara is an arts and cultural consultant and researcher based in Dublin. She is currently curating a series of critical colloquia for the National Campaign for the Arts (ncfa.ie), on themes of ‘the public’, apathy, evidence.  In addition to this, she is mentoring students in Dublin’s Institute of Technology’s BA in the ‘Creative and Cultural Industries’, as well as completing a PHD in cultural policy looking at the influence of discourse and narrative on cultural policy, and in particular the discourse of the ‘Creative City’ movement.

Finbarr teaches Green Business at the Smurfit School of Business, University College Dublin (UCD).  He worked as an engineer with GE in the US, Korea and Ireland. His new book on relationshipws between innovation, authenticity and place will be published shortly.  He has an engineering degree from University College Cork (UCC) and a PhD in international finance from the Stern School of Business, New York University (NYU).

Meike is the project coordinator of the CURE project. She studied urban planning with a focus on regional competitiveness in the European perspective. Involved in EU-funded projects since 2004, she is now head of the company cep Sturm - consulting European projects and facilitates city councils and other public and private bodies in the development and implementation of urban projects with EU or national funding.

EMMANUELLE MARION

CHAIR

Emmanuelle combines 15 years national and international cultural management and policy-making with 5 years piloting best environmental and sustainable best practice in Ireland.

In 2010, she co-founded d.ploy Dublin in 2010, an innovation organisation focusing on the intersection between the creative & cultural industries and economic regeneration.
She is also the co-founder of Creative Green, a human-centred research, public engagement and strategic development consultancy. She is a curator and design practitioner.

PIERRE FORTIN​

Pierre is the new general manager of the Quartier des spectacles Partnership, and has a strong background in management and communication marketing.  As vice-president for marketing at the Old Port of Montreal Corporation from 2001 to 2008, he led the rebranding of Montreal Science Centre and the Quays of the Old Port..
